NSRI Simonstown: NSRI Simonstown Station 10 Station 10 is situated in Simon's Town, South Africa, next to the False Bay Yacht Club. Our area of responsibility extends across False Bay from the Western side of the False Bay coast, out to approximately 40 nautical miles South of Cape Point. All NSRI stations are also on call for assistance in areas other than their own area of responsibility. |

Airborne Sea Rescue Unit: The ASR unit is one of three helicopter units of the NSRI. The NSRI has 28 Coastal and 2 inshore National Sea Rescue Institute Bases. The NSRI ASR Unit supply highly trained crew to fulfill the Rescue Swimmer position for the SAAF. The ASR standard operating procedures and equipment are based on those of the US Coast Guard.
Our Station's Mission, along with the Mission of the National Sea Rescue Institute is To Save Lives on South African Waters It is however, a highly trained unit which specializes in large scale aerial rescues. |
